Why the Name Varnya?
The meaning behind our name.
The name Varnya is inspired by the Sanskrit word Varna — a word associated with color, beauty, and expression.
While the word has existed for centuries, Varnya gives it a new meaning.
To us, Varnya represents the beauty of craftsmanship, the richness of culture, and the stories carried by the hands that create every object.

From the block-printers of Bagru to the weavers of the Deccan, each Varnya piece begins in a workshop where craft has been passed down through generations. We work alongside our artisans. Not as suppliers, but as collaborators in keeping these traditions alive.
Many of our colors begin in the village itself — roots, leaves, flowers and minerals are washed, ground and simmered into natural dyes by the same hands that later press them into cloth. That slow alchemy of pigment and place is part of every print you see.
